How We Came To Be
"when seeking employment, putting together a CV or applying for a job, there isn't a 'one size fits all' answer"

My name is Eleanor Freeman and I am the proud founder of Little Yolk!
With a Post Graduate Diploma in Career Guidance (merit) and a post qualifying qualification, obtained through the Connexions service, I also hold a BA (Hons) Degree in Social Studies and counselling qualifications to level 3 standard.
Working as a Careers Adviser for over 13 years, my experiences include working with young people and adults; in schools, colleges, universities, charities and community settings. I have worked for the Connexions Service, the Next Steps Service, as well as for independent organisations.
Many of my clients have struggled to find and secure employment due to barriers in their lives; including ill health, learning difficulties and long term unemployment. I have been able to help many individuals over the years,
regardless of their circumstances, into full employment, training and voluntary positions. Not only by providing one to one advice and guidance, but through group work sessions, in all aspects of careers and employment.
Since qualifying as a Careers Adviser in 2008, I have regularly volunteered my expertise to friends and family, who have needed help with their own careers. Just like having a plumber or electrician in the family, it is always handy to have a skill that your nearest and dearest can benefit from. I have lost count of how many CVs I have produced, checked and 'tweaked' for my loved ones over the years; as well as helping with application forms, cover letters and interview practice. I have always been very happy to help and I get a huge amount of satisfaction from seeing those close to me settled in a job they enjoy, knowing I have contributed to the process.
It was only when a good friend of mine, who I had helped a few years before, met me for lunch, that really got me thinking...about my own journey! We were chatting about the career change he made a couple of years ago and how much he is enjoying his new job. My friend thanked me, again, for all the help he felt I had given him when he had been made redundant. I had produced his CV for him and got him on the road to thinking of his options.
I humbly accepted his thanks...yet again (although there was absolutely no need!), but as I said, it did get me thinking....and researching, into what help there is out there for people. For those that haven't got a Careers Adviser in their family or circle of friends.
As with anything in life these days, in our 'online world', there is plenty of 'free' advice on careers and employment. However, when seeking employment, putting together a CV or applying for a job, there isn't a 'one size fits all' answer. We are all different people - with different experiences, and different goals and aspirations. Advice can also be conflicting and confusing and often can come from unqualified and inexperienced individuals, and can often appear 'impersonal'. It is also difficult to find support in all aspects of jobs and careers 'under one roof'.
So my luncheon with my friend, and subsequent research, led me to the idea for this service. I wanted to use my skills and experiences and offer my personal support to anyone and everyone who feels they need it.
So, Little Yolk was born!
